About African Cichlids, Lake Malawi

Lake Malawi CichlidsLake Malawi cichlids are some of the most colorful and active freshwater fishes for the home aquarium. These fish are immensely popular with aquarists due to these vibrant colors and bold personalities. All of these cichlids come from Lake Malawi in southeastern Africa. Lake Malawi is so large that three different countries share its shoreline: Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique. African Cichlids from Lake Malawi are very territorial and like to have caves and rocks to hide in. Some of the more popular fish names from this region are the Electric Yellow Lab, the Kenyi Cichlid, the Giraffe Cichlid and the Peacock Cichlid.
