Description: A fairly easy fish to keep. Tolerates most water parameters without problems, if acclimated properly. Will tolerate brackish conditions well, and has been taken from brackish areas of the rivers/streams it is from.
This fish is ofter confused with the "Long-Nose Loach", Acantopsis octoactinotos. One of the differences between the two species is that the Long Nosed Loach does not burrow as much or as deeply as the Horse Faced Loach. The Long Nose Loach will stay out in the open much more. As they are mostly nocturnal creatures, feeding after the lights are out, is best for these guys. However, they will learn the smell of foods you feed them, and if the substrate is shallow enough, that they can smell the food when placed in the tank, they will learn to come out in the day to eat. A fine substrate like sand, is required to keep these fish happy. They like to burrow into the substrate, and remain there.
