Symptom

Cause
Poor water conditions, new fish in the tank, fighting or fin nipping, poor feeding or overcrowding.
Treatment
There are several antibiotics or antibacterial medicines on the market designed for helping with this. Adding some salt to an aquarium might help in preventing finrot in some freshwater fish. Water changes to improve the conditions of the fish. Remember that medicines help the fish recover from its problems but the root cause must also be corrected, be it moving the fish doing the nipping, improving water conditions, improve feedings, or getting a larger aquarium.
